Enhancing Morning Rituals: A Personal Journey with Cannabis and Exercise

Every morning, before the sun even thinks about coming over the horizon I begin my day with a ritual that sets the tone for my day ahead. It's not just about waking up; it's about awakening my mind, body, and spirit to the endless possibilities that lie ahead. My day begins with a simple but conscious routine, where each step is infused with intention and mindfulness.

After rising from bed with the determination that has become second nature and, now enjoyable, over the past year and a half, I begin my morning ritual. First, I attend to the basics: brushing my teeth and hydrating with a delicious glass of water. Then, with a sense of purpose, I make my way to the space I've lovingly curated in the basement, nestled beside the wood pile that fuels our cozy wood stove. The scent of pine envelops me, grounding me in the present moment and invigorating my senses.

Setting up my space

Here, in this cherished space, I reach for my dry herb vaporizer and set it to 349 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature allows the terpenes limonene and eucalyptol to vaporize, infusing the air with their energizing essence. (1) As I inhale deeply, I feel a sense of clarity wash over me, sharpening my focus and quieting the chatter of my mind. 

With this heightened clarity, I turn to my daily reading and reflection, allowing the cannabis to expand my thoughts and open the floodgates of creativity. As I take a few moments to jot down my thoughts I feel the cannabis start to take effect.  

As a Cannabis health coach I learned about my endocannabinoid system and how important it is to listen to the signals and messages our body communicates to us. This includes how I respond to my environment, to the foods I eat, to how I react to stressors, and how I move my body.

Now, attuned to the needs of my body, I turn to my exercise routine. I change things up between yoga, foam rolling, weightlifting, and qi gong, allowing my body to guide me every step of the way. Cannabis serves as a conduit, heightening my awareness of my body and deepening my connection to each movement.

In this state of flow, there is no room for judgement or self-criticism—only love and acceptance. My body relaxes, surrendering to the feelings of the present moment. I listen intently, tuning in to the whispers of my muscles and the subtle cues of my breath. With each movement, I mould and sculpt my body with intention and grace, honouring its unique rhythm and limitations.

Through this harmonious union of cannabis and exercise, I cultivate a deeper sense of connection—to myself, to the world around me, and to the endless possibilities that lie ahead. As I emerge from my morning ritual, I carry with me a renewed sense of vitality and purpose, ready to embrace whatever the day may bring.
